Here at Exclusive Electric Services Inc., we know home- and business owners are always looking for ways to make their buildings more energy efficient, and we are here to help you do that. When looking at how much energy the various systems in your building use, it’s clear that one of the biggest consumers of energy is your lighting. To save energy, we encourage you to switch to LED lighting, and in this article, we’ll go over a few of the benefits it has to offer in order to convince you to give it a try.

Benefits of LED Lighting

• Efficiency – As we alluded to above, LED lighting is by far the most energy-efficient lighting option on the market. LED lights use up to 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs, and some calculations put that figure at closer to 90%. On average, incandescent bulbs produce about 15 lumens (a measure of a light’s brightness) per watt of energy used, while LEDs produce between 75 and 110 lumens per watt.

• Longevity – Another benefit of LED lighting is its increased lifespan. The average lifespan of an incandescent bulb is only 750 hours, or about a month. In contrast, LEDs last 25,000 hours on average, which is nearly three years—and this estimate assumes 24-hour use, so in reality LEDs will last even longer. Because LEDs last so much longer, you’ll save even more money by switching, since you won’t have to replace them as often.

• Versatility – A third advantage of LED lighting is its incredible versatility. While you can buy LED bulbs to fit in any standard bulb socket, you can also use LED strips or panels to create a variety of great effects. For instance, you can use colored LEDs to create beautiful wall art or adjust the ambience of your space, and you can add LED strips to things like drawers and cabinets to illuminate these storage areas.
